This playbook aims to supplement the Art and Design curriculum in secondary schools, especially in the Philippines. As a graphic designer and a learning and development professional, I have used my experience to create this online instructional playbook. Despite the recent advancements in the Philippine education system, including the adoption of K-12 education and the inclusion of design subjects, there is still a need for improvement in the content and standards.

This playbook contains design lessons, activities, and assessments for Art and Design educators to effectively teach design to secondary students. It also includes valuable references from industry experts and emphasizes the value of design education to make design lessons more relevant and useful in education.

The project aims to equip students with marketable skills required for various design fields and prepare them for successful careers. It is based on the theoretical framework of Progressivism, emphasizing student-driven learning, practicality, and problem-solving approaches to design education.

Each of the lessons contains the following three segments:

(1) Design lessons: This section delves into the foundational concepts of design.
(2) Suggested learning activities and assessments: Here, recommended practical hands-on activities are provided alongside assessment strategies to encourage learning.
(3) Technical References: This part offers technical guidance and related references.

Recognizing that it will be challenging to just define one software or tool that you or students can use to create designs, I will be providing tutorial links on both licensed and open source software, as well as interactive websites and sources to give you alternatives to learn and practice what has been taught in the design lesson portion.
